“ This is a great corner market with fantastic barbecued steaks and other meats available on Sunday afternoons and some holidays. Also has great coffee. Sean has information on anything food, wine, the stock market, politics, local news, international news, plumbing.... ”
“ Best neighborhood market! Sean and his staff are incredibly helpful, friendly and always go out of their way to make your experience great. The wine selection is outstanding for all price ranges. The meatseafood department quality is restaurant quality and the deli is terrific make sure to try their fresh French roll on a sandwich and go out of your way for homemade burritos on Thursdays and Fridays! Pre orders for meats and specialty desert pies for the holidays are a must!! And if you need to quickly stop for flowers or a hilarious card, they even have that covered. Its amazing what they can fit inside this neighborhood location, its almost like magic...when I need something I can almost always find it there. Even a cup of your fresh brewed morning coffee! They are also super dog friendly and will step outside to bring your little pooch a dog treat. Santa Monica is so lucky to have a gem like The Farms. ”
“ The is the best local grocerdelibutcher in Santa Monica. From home made chips salsa and guacamole to egg salad to fried chicken to ribs salads to Mac and cheese to daily specials that are crazy delicious and on and on... The burritos on Thursday are the best Ive ever had. The butcher is 5 stars. Amazing. Do your self a favor and put The Farms in your world. ”
“ This is one of the most special markets in Los Angeles County. Being a 5th generation Angelino, I appreciate a market of this caliber still being in existence. Here are some of the reasons this market so special The meat market owner, Juan, only purchases Prime meat and fresh fish. The quality of the meat, fish and chicken are much better than Whole Foods, Bristol Farms, Ralphs, etc...they roast and fry chicken daily, they make fresh soup daily, along with an array of other items. They offer two types of salsa to the public free for the tasting along with homemade chips. They make the chips every two hours and theyre unbelievably good. Juan, Alex, Mario, Steve, Nestor and the rest of the crew are all great guys and know most of the customers on a first name basis. The owner of the market Sean, is one hell of a guy. His father and grandfather ran markets in the area. His grandfather started off with the Fireside, which is now Whole Foods on Montana. Seans father wanted to open up his own market, so he opened up the Farms market, where the WilliamsSonoma is now located on 16th and Montana. He then opened up a second location at the current Farms location on 21st in Montana. Sean has carried on the family tradition of keeping the market small, quaint and wellrun. He makes jerky that resembles something I wouldve purchased from Mahogany meats, out of Bishop California in the 80s, fresh orange juice, made from Texas oranges, and there is always fresh bread brought in by the Family which owns Pioneer bread. Jeff and Tommy behind the registers are both classic guys and always are pleasant to visit and talk with. The TVs have sports playing and there is classic rock playing over the stereo system. If Rolling Stone came to review this place, they would have a hard time not falling in love with it. I am very grateful that the Farms is in existence. Chris Farlow ”
“ Great family owned and operated joint. The employees are knowledgeable and friendly. Every customer becomes part of the Farms Family. The deli has fresh made food including the best salsa in town! ”
“ I live down the street from here and try and make a point to support local businesses as much as I can. This place always has free parking in the back, and on the street, and in front so theres no real excuse not to be able to stop in here. While I wouldnt consider myself a regular, the people who work here remember me every time I come in. They have a deli in the back filled with delicious things for when you just cant get to make your own meal, and the prices are accessible, which is nice, considering the area. ”
“ The farms is a one of a kind grocery store thats been there so long its nearly historical. Definitely a group of individuals working in there but the place is a Worthy experience. Theyre always up for a joke and the place is highly customer oriented ”
“ I am not from the area but was staying at a friends place a few blocks away. I wanted to run and get a quick cup of coffee and sandwich before my ride picked me up. Ran into this neighborhood grocery store and what a charming experience! I was immediately greeted when I entered the store by a friendly sales lady putting out fresh flowers. I was also assisted by a man who I believe must have been the store manager as he directed me to the deli to have his staff craft me a deliciously fresh sandwich made to order. He also entertained me with witty banter as he rang up my goods at checkout. Next time I am in the area, this will be my token grocery store. ”
